Your best source for winning sports picks including expert NFL picks, Hockey picks, basketball picks, college football game predictions and NBA picks is now available.A Note From Doc ![]() Our company opened for business back in 1971. We were only one of a small number of sports handicapping services in existence at that time, and most of those have now fallen by the wayside. When you have been in the sports handicapping industry for more than 30 years, you definitely see some major changes. College Football Betting: Handicapping Conference Championship Gamesby T.O. Whenham - 12/02/2008 We are entering a short but exciting period in college football - the conference championship games. The Big 12, ACC, and SEC, along with Conference USA, and the MAC, all have title games this weekend. Though there are only five games, and they all feature teams in different circumstances, past games have taught us some lessons that can be applied to this year's games. Here are six concepts to explore as you are getting ready for the last weekend of football before we get to go bowling: Read more about Handicapping Conference Championship Games. NFL Handicapping: Teams to Write Offby T.O. Whenham - 12/02/2008 If there is one thing I have learned in all the years that I have been watching the NFL, it's that you can't count any team out at any time. As soon as you think you have everything figured out you get shown just how wrong you are. That being said, there are several teams that I am ready to write-off--squads that are far too broken to be trusted with your bankroll or anything else that matters. I'm not talking about the no-hope teams like Cincinnati, Detroit, Seattle and so on. Read more about Teams You Can't Trust. Sports Betting Tutorialby Spencer Patton - 12/02/2008 Sports betting has evolved a long way since the days of shady bars, smoky casino rooms, and broken kneecaps. Sports betting is easy, relatively straight forward, and useful as much for personal knowledge (being able to tell your friends what the spreads are on games they are watching) as it is for personal investment, if you know what you are doing. Read more about Sports Betting Tutorial. NFC Teams Find December a Difficult Monthby Greg Melikov - 12/02/2008 December has proved a disappointing month for NFL teams in the NFC. None of the past champs have posted outstanding records in the 21st Century. Read more about NFC Teams. Big Ten Basketball Betting: Weekly Notebookby Matt Severance - 12/02/2008 Tuesday and Wednesday nights should show us whether the depth of the Big Ten can match up with that of the perceived No. 2 basketball conference in the land, the ACC. Read more about Big Ten Betting. College Basketball Betting: Weekly Atlantic 10 Reportby Christopher G. Shepard - 12/02/2008 Dayton upset No. 15 Marquette, and with Xavier, remains undefeated in non-conference play. However, last week the Atlantic 10 as a conference went a woeful 2-14-2 against the spread. The conference managed to win only five games. Charlotte led the bankroll burners at 0-2 SU and ATS over the same time period as they extended their ATS loss streak to three games and a conference worst 2-5 record ATS. Read more about A to Z. Around the NBA in 24 Secondsby Robert Ferringo and Nolan Sinclair - 12/01/2008 Right now the Utah Jazz are THE team that no one wants to see when they are fully healthy. But the question is, will this team ever get healthy? Read more about NBA Betting. Playing the NBA Stock Market: Buy or Sellby Josh Nagel - 12/01/2008 Black Friday was a buyer's market if you were one of the millions who braved the frigid November cold for hours on end in hopes of getting first selection and prime value out of your holiday shopping. Read more about NBA Stock Market. NHL Betting: The Week's Biggest Storiesby T.O. Whenham - 12/01/2008 There's a whole lot going on in the NHL that should be of interest to bettors, so let's not waste time: Read more about NHL Betting. All-Time Greatest Point Spread Finishes - No. 4by Josh Nagel - 12/01/2008 Last year's Lakers-Spurs NBA playoffs series felt eerily similar to the days of the Kobe and Shaq Lakers, when they seemed to pound the Spurs mercilessly whenever the clubs met in the playoffs. Read more about All-Time Greatest Point Spread Finishes. College Basketball Betting: Weekly Cheat Sheet by T.O. Whenham - 11/29/2008 The first in a series of weekly looks at the college basketball news and stats that bettors need to know: Read more about College Basketball Betting. Football Betting: Thursday Public Action Report by T.O. Whenham - 11/27/2008 We're doing the Public Action Report early this weekend because of the holiday, and because so many good games are on Friday. This will also be the last Report of the season since the college regular season is winding down. All good things must come to an end. It seems fitting, then, that we have a large number of college games this week to finish things off. Read more about Football Betting: Thursday Public Action Report. College Football Betting: Teams With Extra Motivation This Week by T.O. Whenham - 11/27/2008 For many teams this is the last week of the college football season. That means the start of the postseason for some, but for a lot of players the only thing happening after this weekend is a return to the life of a normal student. The finality of this weekend can create some opportunities for bettors, though. There are inevitably going to teams that are going to be motivated to play their best, but which will fly below the public's radar. Read more about Weekend Motivation. Can Wild Cards Rule Supreme? Odds Are Against Them by Greg Melikov - 11/27/2008 Wild card teams over the years haven't done particular well in the National Football League playoffs since the format was adopted in 1970 when the two conferences were realigned into three divisions each. Read more about NFL Wild Cards. All-Time Greatest Point Spread Finishes - No. 5 by Josh Nagel - 11/27/2008 The wild finish between the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Diego Chargers two weekends ago, which ended in the first 11-10 score in NFL history, was one of the most memorable point-spread-defining endings in recent memory. Read more about All-Time Greatest Point Spread Finishes. Rivalry Week in College Football by Nicholas Tolomeo - 11/27/2008 When it comes time for the big rivalry games in college football you always hear the talking heads on TV saying "when these teams meet you can throw the record book out the window." I suggest holding onto that record book, especially if your office is more than three stories off the ground. Read more about Rivalry Week. College Basketball Betting: Freshmen With Impact by T.O. Whenham - 11/27/2008 It seems like freshmen are playing a bigger and bigger role in college basketball every year. The last few years, freshmen have been leading their teams deep into the tournament, and they haven't been looking very much like freshmen. Knowing those freshmen - Rose, Oden, Durant, Mayo and so on - has been very important for bettors wanting to make a few bucks. Read more about Freshmen. Week 13 NFL Power Rankings by Robert Ferringo - 11/26/2008 Here is a look at Doc's Sports Week 13 NFL Power Rankings: Read more about Week 13 NFL Power Rankings. Handicapping NFL Thanksgiving Games by T.O. Whenham - 11/26/2008 It's almost Thanksgiving. Besides a turkey and mashed potato induced coma, Thanksgiving is all about football. There are three NFL games to watch this year. That means three games to handicap. For the most part handicapping these games is pretty much the same as any other game - it's still football, after all. There are a few things to consider, though, if you want to treat these games a little bit differently, and potentially give yourself a bit of an edge. Read more about Handicapping Thanksgiving NFL Games. Thursday Night Football: Texas A&M at Texas by Matt Severance - 11/26/2008 It's not really a matter of whether Texas beats Texas A&M on Thursday night in Austin. Most people assume that's a forgone conclusion, and the Longhorns are 35-point favorites on SBG Global. It's more a matter of how good UT looks in its victory and how the rest of the weekend shakes out that determines where the Horns play next. Read more about Thursday Night Football Preview. Can Cowboys Bounce Back? by T.O. Whenham - 11/26/2008 As the Cowboys get ready for their annual Thanksgiving tilt, and the rest of the season beyond it, you really have to wonder if a team with this many issues can be a contender. They have been the worst kind of soap opera this year. They are still right in the mix, though. They have the record to be a wild card team right now, though they would miss out if the playoffs started today thanks to tie-breakers. Read more about Dallas Cowboys. NBA Betting: Nuggets Better Off Without Iverson by T.O. Whenham - 11/26/2008 I'm a big Allen Iverson fan so I hate to admit this, but the Nuggets really seem better off without "The Answer" on the court. Denver has won eight of 10 since acquiring Chauncey Billups from Denver for Iverson. The only two losses have been totally acceptable, too - on the road to the equally hot Cavs and Lakers. They are 6-3-1 ATS in this new era. This streak has them precariously perched atop the Northwest Division and, for now anyway, comfortably in a playoff spot. Read more about Denver Nuggets. NFL Office Pool Picks - Week 13 by T.O. Whenham - 11/19/2008 We have to get an early start on picking our office pools this week because of the smorgasbord of football pleasure that is Thanksgiving. I am hopeful that the novelty of three consecutive games on a weekday will make up for the fact that at least two of them seem sure to bore. Luckily, you Americans will be in a near-coma state thanks to the turkey, so you won't even notice if they are lousy. Read more about NFL Office Pool Picks - Week 13. College Basketball Betting: Weekly Atlantic 10 Report by Christopher G. Shepard - 11/26/2008 The first week of the college basketball season was not without its surprises as Atlantic 10 teams managed to make some noise in the various tournaments with Xavier, Dayton, and Duquesne remaining undefeated. However, Temple was the only team to notch a 3-0 record against the spread. Read more about Atlantic 10 Betting. Thanksgiving NFL Betting by SPORTSBETTING.COM - 11/26/2008 We love tradition as much as the next guy, but can anyone give us one good reason why the Detroit Lions still get to play every Thanksgiving. I mean, come on…the Dallas Cowboys, they hold up their end of the deal, but the Lion organization simply doesn't deserve a spotlight game on Thanksgiving Thursday any more. Read more about Thanksgiving NFL Betting. Big Ten Basketball Betting: Weekly Notebook by Matt Severance - 11/25/2008 We should get to see how good the Michigan State Spartans can be over the next week as Tom Izzo's club heads to the Old Spice Classic in Orlando. Read more about Big Ten Betting. Football Betting: Early Week Line Movements by Robert Ferringo - 11/25/2008 I don't know if anything else could better summarize my findings about the early line movements over the last two years than this: Read more about Early Week Line Movements. National Championship and BCS Projections by Nicholas Tolomeo - 11/25/2008 The jigsaw puzzle that is the collegiate football national championship picture becomes more and more clear each week. However, with two weeks of college football remaining I would not be so quick to count any team out of this just yet. Read more about BCS Projections. Tuesday Morning QB: A Bookie's View of the Week in Sports Betting by SPORTSBETTING.COM - 11/25/2008 Conventional wisdom in U.S. college football states that it is better to lose early in the season as opposed to later if you are a top-ranked team; the rational being, if you lose early you can slowly claw your way back up, but if you lose late, you could tumble into the non-BCS bowl abyss. Read more about Tuesday Morning Quarterback. College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15 by Robert Ferringo - 11/24/2008 After two straight Salvation Army weeks - that's non-profit, for those who weren't sure - the Ferringo 15 bounced back with a solid 6-3-1 ATS performance. That solid performance was made that much sweeter because we had winners in some of the marquee rivalry games of the weekend, including North Carolina State taking down North Carolina, Cal thumping Stanford, and Penn State destroying Michigan State. Around the NBA in 24 Seconds by Robert Ferringo and Nolan Sinclair - 11/24/2008 The sun has set on the fourth week of the NBA season and the cream is already rising to the top. The Lakers and the Celtics are starting to prove to the rest of the NBA that if anyone wants to get to the Finals they need to knock off the defending Eastern and Western Conference champs. Boston and L.A. are a combined 23-3 straight up after their first 26 games and both teams are in first in their respective conferences. Read more about NBA Betting. Improved Heat Lacking in the Middle by Nicholas Tolomeo - 11/24/2008 Last season's 15-67 record for the Miami Heat was so mind-numbingly bad, people are still having trouble trying to figure out how a team with Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neil for most of the season just refused to win games. The Heat are assured to be one of the most improved teams this year just for the simple fact that anything is an improvement over 15 wins. This season after 13 games, the Heat are almost halfway there with a 7-6 straight up record. Read more about Miami Heat. NHL Betting: The Week's Biggest Stories by T.O.
