Fresno State nearly mucked up the BCS
User Rating: / 0

Man, I knew I should have stayed up for that Fresno State-Southern California game.

Living on the east coast for a year, I guess my so-called "East Coast Media Bias" has finally set in. I just assumed, like everyone else, the No. 1 Trojans would just pummel the No. 16 Bulldogs.

THE SEC TODAY: WEEK THIRTEEN.
User Rating: / 0

Previous Week Overview: The Iron Bowl went to Streaking Auburn last week as Alabama suffered a major hangover from the previous weeks loss against LSU at home. The offense, which was already floundering, hit rock bottom as QB Croyle was sacked 11 times. Auburn cashed in on 3 short drives early for a 21-0 lead and cruised from there. Both teams finish the season 9-2 but Auburn is going to attract the better bowl as they are now one of the hottest teams in the country. As for Bama, the dream of a SEC championship is over and the future remains cloudy as long as lifetime loser Shula is at the reigns.

In other action, Georgia finally clinched the SEC East crown with a drubbing of annual whipping boy Kentucky. The game was never close as QB Shockley appears to be completely healthy hitting on 4 TD passes. Next stop for Georgia - Atlanta on December 3rd for all the marbles. Elsewhere, our favorite overrated team, Tennessee, continues to provide the laughs in another miserable performance this time getting beat by in state Vanderbilt. The Vols have sunk to an all time low and I expect they will continue to under perform as long as the current coaching staff remains in place.

State of confusion in Sun Belt
User Rating: / 0

Sun BEltBowl eligibility is a tricky thing. Well, it's not that tricky. You just have to win six games.

But in the Sun Belt Conference, winning six games could be a tricky proposition.

Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas State and Louisiana-Lafayette are all in the running for the conference's automatic berth in the New Orleans Bowl. Middle Tennessee, while out of the running, can still become bowl-eligible. But if any of them make it to a bowl game, they'll do it by just scraping by.

THE SEC TODAY: WEEK ELEVEN
User Rating: / 0

SEC FootballPrevious Week Overview: It was the calm before the storm last week as no major events took place that altered the status quo. Conference best and undefeated Alabama put on a superior defensive display in its domination of Mississippi State. The Tide are now poised to play in what is essentially the SEC West title game at home against LSU.

In other action, South Carolina continues to win games as it makes a bid to move into the upper echelon of the conference. It sets up an intriguing matchup this week as the Gamecocks are at home against Florida. The winner will move into prime bowl contention. Finally, our favorite whipping boys, those overrated, underachieving Vols, came through as expected against Notre Dame as they were drubbed by 20 points.

Conference USA's East race heating up

Conference USA is tightening up, especially in the East, where Southern Miss and Central Florida are basically tied for the divisional lead, with Southern Miss holding the card over Central Florida.

First of all, Southern Miss (5-3, 4-1 East) defeated Marshall (4-5, 3-3 East) 27-24 on Tuesday, keeping the Golden Eagles at the top of the East Division.
