THE SEC TODAY: WEEK FOUR
User Rating: / 0

SEC FootballPrevious Week Overview: Florida took a big step in the SEC East and national title picture with a convincing win over struggling and highly overrated Tennessee 16-7. The Tennessee offense can now be said to be a huge early season disappointment with this effort coming off of the equally poor one against UAB.

In other action, our preseason pick to win the SEC, Alabama, produced an impressive road victory over South Carolina 37-14 hitting on all cylinders both on offense and defense. This is the same South Carolina team that came right down to the wire the week before at Georgia. The Crimson Tide are now the only 3-0 team in the SEC West and 1 of only 2 teams unbeaten period. In the surprise of the year, 3-0 Vanderbilt continued its winning ways with a 31-23 win over Mississippi. The Rebels made a comeback bringing it to 24-23 late but again Vandy finished strong and scored a clinching touchdown.

SEC FootballPrevious Week Overview: Arizona State took control of the game for three quarters and appeared on their way to victory. Leading 17-7 in the 4th, the Devils lined up for a field goal that would extend the lead. Instead, the kick was blocked and returned for a touchdown starting a 28 point 4th quarter for LSU as the Tigers won in a shoot out 35-31. It was a tough game to lose for the Devils and puts LSU squarely into the national title picture.

In other action, South Carolina went into Athens and surprisingly played Georgia evenly for the whole game losing 17-15. You've got to consider Spurrier a force in the SEC already in only his first season at the helm. A win at home over Alabama immediately makes them a contender for the division. Finally, Vanderbilt has become the surprise of the early season with another come from behind victory this time at a tough Fayetteville. Vandy scored with 26 seconds remaining to seal the victory 28-24 over the shocked Razorbacks.

ACC Week Two Recap "Upsetless"

Well folks, for once, in a college football conference, everything worked out like it was supposed to. There were no upsets, and the teams retained all seven top 25 spots they held last week. It should make for a very interesting week three, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's look at the week that was, and see what it should tell us for the week yet to be. Follow me friends.

Previous Week Overview:
I am not the least bit surprised over Georgia Tech's win. In fact, I told all of you that Auburn would have a very tough time replacing its leaders and that Tech had done very well on the road last year. I was half right about Georgia as they scored points all day long AND put up an impressive defense against one of the nations more prolific offenses. Florida won comfortably but I was right about Wyoming staying on the good side of the margin in my first Team Of The Week prediction (more on that later)

Other Notes: Alabama's defense started where it left off from last season with a solid effort and my "overrated team of the year" - Tennessee - came up with the expected performance barely getting by an outmanned UAB team.
