ACC Week 2 Premonitions
Well folks, the ACC still has a lot to prove in week two, but there is really only one game in which the ACC will be able to prove anything. That game will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, when Wake Forest travels to Nebraska, a game that will be nationally televised on TBS. Three of the other five games will feature conference showdowns, while the other two will pit ACC teams against out of conference foes. Don't expect any big surprises this weekend, all of the games are pretty much set in stone.

Miami vs. FSU Preview

Coming off a dissapointing season, the #9 Miami Hurricanes, are set to open up their season at #14 Flordia State University. Both teams should show off their talent, being that both coaches, Larry Coker of Miami and Bobby Bowden of FSU, run very good football programs.

OFFENSE: Miami is led by young sophmore quarterback, Kyle Wright (6-5, 208). Wright has a lot of expectations coming into the first game against FSU, due to him being ranked as the top quarterback coming out of his senior year of high school who has yet to start a game as a Hurricane. The 'Canes running backs are sub-par at best. Junior, Tyrone Moss (5-10, 221) is set to be the starter Monday night and should alternate with red-shirt freshman, Derron Thomas (5-9, 185), who has been clocked 4.33 on the 40 yard dash. The wide receivers should be anchored by junior, Ryan Moore (6-3, 215), who was injured all of his sophmore season but showed a lot of potential his freshman year by catching 44 passes for 627 yards. Moore would be accompanied by sophmore, Lance Leggett (6-4, 174), who has blazing speed. Not to mention Miami's offensive line who only gave up two sacks in the last 207 past attempts agasint FSU.

Big 12 South: Wreckin' Shop
And now we come around to the big boys, the elder Pete to the Big 12 North's younger Pete, the Harlem Globetrotters to the North's Washington Generals, the oncoming truck to the North's wide-eyed deer in the road, the Big 12 South.

Four of the teams in this one division have the potential to end up in the top 10 in the final rankings. Even the fifth team, Oklahoma State, could hypothetically make a serious run at a Big 12 North title.

Week 1 ACC Premonitions
The ACC opened play on Thursday night, with Wake Forest hosting SEC foe Vanderbilt, as the Demon Deacons became the first ACC team to fall this season. The rest of the weekend features games on Saturday, Sunday, and even a Monday night game featuring one of the best early matchups of the season as Miami travels the short distance to Florida State. Some of the out of conference matchups are pretty weak, but the ACC should see some decent games this weekend.

Big 12 Preview - North Division
Big Twelve North PreviewRemember 1996? The year the old Southwest Conference dissolved and the Big 8 cherry-picked its three best teams (and Baylor) to form the Big 12.

Except then, it was more like Nebraska and 11 other rejects. The Huskers were at the zenith of their power, with Tom Osborne regularly starting teams that had a double-digit number of past, current and future inmates.

Even after Nebraska; Colorado and Kansas State were perenially solid, in a few cases (KSU in 1998 comes to mind) unabashedly spectacular. They more than made up for the sad-sack Iowas States and Kansases of the world.
