``Let them have to try to stop a pro-style offense. Let's see how they are going to do it. They've had their advantage because I've come into recruiting late. Well, now it's X's and O's time. Let's see who has the advantage now.'' - Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis. Former pro coaches that have migrated back to the college game are naturally cocky and some say rightfully so. After all, most of them have been somewhat successful at the top rung of football where the latest technology combines with 18-hour workdays to ferret out the most mundane tendency a team might have. The poster child of success for pro coaches jumping back to the college ranks is, of course Pete Carroll at USC. At 43-9 and looking for his third consecutive National Title, it's hard to argue against anything Carroll has brought to Southern California. |
