SEC FootballPrevious Week Overview: Florida took a big step in the SEC East and national title picture with a convincing win over struggling and highly overrated Tennessee 16-7. The Tennessee offense can now be said to be a huge early season disappointment with this effort coming off of the equally poor one against UAB.

In other action, our preseason pick to win the SEC, Alabama, produced an impressive road victory over South Carolina 37-14 hitting on all cylinders both on offense and defense. This is the same South Carolina team that came right down to the wire the week before at Georgia. The Crimson Tide are now the only 3-0 team in the SEC West and 1 of only 2 teams unbeaten period. In the surprise of the year, 3-0 Vanderbilt continued its winning ways with a 31-23 win over Mississippi. The Rebels made a comeback bringing it to 24-23 late but again Vandy finished strong and scored a clinching touchdown.

This Weeks Action: (All times Eastern)

Game Of The Week

8:00 PM Tennessee at LSU: BREAKING NEWS! This game has been switched to Monday night thanks to Hurricane Rita. This can only be considered great news for Tennessee as they try to distance themselves from last week's disappointment and a couple of extra days will help them recover. Meanwhile, This is yet another schedule change for LSU as they sit out even longer since their win at Arizona State. Expect LSU to come out flat and Tennessee to be fired up in a must win.

Tennessee       18
LSU                  14

Conference Matchups

12:30 PM Arkansas at Alabama: Two teams heading in the opposite directions square off at Bryant-Denny Stadium. We were the one and only to tell you about Alabama in the preseason and now people are finally taking notice as they pounded a decent South Carolina team. Meanwhile, Arkansas was obliterated by national #1 Southern California. We can only see more of the same this weekend as a confident Tide continue to improve.

Arkansas          10
Alabama          41

3:30 PM Florida at Kentucky: Kentucky has no chance as they host unbeaten Florida. Kentucky is stuck at the bottom of the SEC as they were completely drubbed by lowly Indiana 38-14. While nothing is working for the Cats everything is going right for the Gators. Coach Urban Meyer seems to be in total control of his young team early and I can't see any let up as he has a proven record of taking care of the patsy's on the schedule.

Florida             38
Kentucky          7

9:00 PM Georgia at Mississippi St.: Georgia comes off its tune up over LA-Monroe to travel to Starkville for what I think will be a surprisingly competitive battle against the Bulldogs. At 2-1 MSU is getting used to winning albeit against some weak opposition. Georgia could very well be dozing a bit as they were not very impressive at home over South Carolina two weeks ago. I don't see an upset in the end but I do see MSU keeping it close at home before Georgia pulls away late.

Georgia           28
Mississippi St   17

Non-Conference Matchups

2:30 PM Western Kentucky at Auburn: Western Kentucky is 2-0! But don't get too excited here as Auburn prepares for yet another tune up blasting over a team with zero chance. It's the kind of schedule that justifiably hurt them last season at year's end but will actually benefit them as they try to find their way after massive graduation losses.

Western Ky      10
Auburn             45

7:00 PM Troy at South Carolina: Unlike the last two seasons, this is a struggling Troy team. They have been blasted by both UAB and Missouri. This is the perfect matchup for South Carolina to gain back some confidence after being humbled by Alabama. An added feature for the Gamecocks is that Troy is notorious for playing badly on the road. Look for South Carolina to take out some frustrations in an easy win.

Troy                 7
South Carolina            44

7:00 PM Wyoming at Mississippi: This appears to be an even matchup as Wyoming has bounced back after losing their opener to powerful Florida. They travel a long way after a down to the wir win at Air Force. Ole Miss would be a solid favorite if they hadn't lost their QB and top defensive player for this game. Expect a close one as these two mediocre teams slug it out.

Wyoming         20
Mississippi       24

7:00 PM Richmond at Vanderbilt: Wow! Vanderbilt at 3-0 atop the SEC East. Now they are almost a total cinch to make it 4-0 as weak Richmond comes in as a team that has scored 6 against UMass and was shut out by Lafayette. Vandy will roll for the first time in a very long time.

Richmond        7
Vanderbilt        31

Team Of The Week
Week 1 Wyoming +24 over Florida Win
Week 2
Arizona State -1 over LSU Loss
Week 3
Tennessee +6 over Florida Loss

It's not an easy thing to do after getting burned the week before but I am confidently going right back onto Tennessee as my big play of the week. They are settling into Ainge as their only QB for the week which should help the offense. The defense has shown it can play already and for Tennessee its backs to the wall time. LSU has got to be dizzy with yet another schedule change. I see a letdown from the big emotional win a couple of weeks ago. Take Tennessee with confidence and an easy cover.
