SEC FootballPrevious Week Overview: The most amazing thing about this week is we are already half way through the college football season. It seems as though it just started. At least next season are will get that added 12th game. As for the games on the field, Georgia came out of last week as legitimate an SEC contender as there is dominating Tennessee. I told you before the season that the Vols were the most overrated team in the nation and they have not disappointed. Georgia was in total of the game from beginning to end sending the 100k plus fans home singing the Rocky Top Blues once again.

In other action, it was all tune up time for the league heavyweights as none were given much competition this week. It definitely appears that the league is cut about in half as we identify this year's contenders and pretenders.

This Weeks Action:
(All times Eastern)

Game Of The Week
3:30 PM Florida at LSU: Two teams fighting for survival in their respective divisions collide in Baton Rouge this weekend as the loser is virtually eliminated from championship play. Both teams sport 1 loss in conference play and both teams are behind undefeated leaders. The only thing separating these two would appear to be home field advantage that belong to LSU. But one thing that seems to be overlooked is the Florida defense. Outside of the Alabama game they have been steller. I have a gut feeling they are going to have a great game here and find a way to get the upset win

Florida             21
LSU                  17

Conference Matchups
12:00 PM Alabama at Mississippi: The SEC West leader, Alabama, heads into Ole Miss this week. Everyone now knows about the Tide defense and that they will most likely contain a less than average Mississippi offense. The big question here is how do the Tide adjust to life without game breaker Prothro? Success in this area is going to a long way in the success of this teams quest for a conference championship.

Alabama          27
Mississippi       10

7:00 PM Auburn at Arkansas: This is going to be an interesting matchup in Fayetteville this weekend. Auburn has not been tested at all since their first game, a loss, at home against Georgia Tech. Meanwhile, the Razorbacks have taken on the likes of top ranked Southern Cal. And Alabama, a game they were very competitive in. Look for Arkansas to put together one of their patented home efforts and come away with the huge upset.

Auburn             21
Arkansas
          24

7:15 PM Georgia at Vanderbilt: At first, this would appear to be a blow out of major proportions if you look at what happened last weekend. But Vanderbilt hung tough against LSU for most of 3 quarters and Georgia has been know to come off big wins and not play as expected against this type of opponent. I see exactly that happening this weekend as Georgia scratches and claws for a close victory

Georgia           24
Vanderbilt        17

Team Of The Week
Week 1 Wyoming +24 over Florida Win
Week 2
Arizona State -1 over LSU Loss
Week 3
Tennessee +6 over Florida Loss
Week 4
Tennessee +7 over LSU Win
Week 5
South Carolina +14 over Auburn Loss
Week 6 LSU -16 over Vanderbilt Win

I pulled back to even on the year last week as LSU finally took control against a pesky Vanderbilt team and pulled away. This week presents us with some great plays in my opinion. It's a tough call but I'm going to go with Florida +6 against LSU. I believe that Florida as a distinct coaching advantage coming into this game and one of the nations better defenses to keep this game close. Florida proved itself by dominating Tennessee and I believe they will go back to that formula this week. Meanwhile LSU has yet to prove itself a winner against major competition in conference. Look for Florida to hang in all game long.
