Previous Week Overview: The Florida - Georgia game came out exactly as predicted last week as the Gators took advantage of the Shockley injury and played great defensively in a 14-10 triumph. The win keeps the Gators slim SEC East hopes alive although Georgia had a game they could lose coming in. With a 1 game lead, the Bulldogs can now win out and head to Atlanta for the championship game.

In other action, South Carolina pulled out a tough win at Tennessee as the overrated Vols continue to struggle at quarterback. I predicted a close game but even I thought Tennessee had enough to get the win at home. The coaching staff continues to be the worst in division 1-A football unable to generate any offense even against the conferences lesser teams. As for the Gamecocks, this is a huge win for Steve Spurrier as he attempts to attract future recruits to the program. I fully expect to be putting South Carolina with the elite teams in the next few years. As for who they would replace you don't have to look any further than the program they just beat.

This Weeks Action: (All times Eastern)

Game Of The Week
2:30 PM Tennessee at #8 Notre Dame: Two teams going in opposite directions meet in South Bend this week. Notre Dame has shined through a brutal schedule which includes an epic battle against #1 Southern California. Meanwhile, its quite a different story in Tennessee. Horrible coaching decisions have basically rendered this team useless this season. Central to the problem is their indecision on who to use at quarterback this season.  That lack of decisiveness continues into this weeks game. Look for Notre Dame to put the finishing touches on Tennessee's bad year.

Tennessee       10
Notre Dame     31

Conference Matchups
12:30 PM South Carolina at Arkansas: This has turned out to be a very interesting matchup of 2 teams gaining momentum and trying to finish the season strong. The Gamecocks held on to beat overrated Tennessee and Arkansas is coming off a good effort against Georgia two weeks ago. I see these 2 teams as even coming into this game with Arkansas having the decisive home field and extra week off edge. Look for that to be the difference in a close affair.

S. Carolina      24
Arkansas          27

1:00 PM #17 Auburn at Kentucky: Auburn has steadily improved since the bad home loss to Georgia Tech in the opener as they hold onto hopes of a SEC West championship. This week they face outmanned Kentucky who is off its first conference win of the season over Mississippi State. This is a matchup of a bad Kentucky offense against a good Auburn defense and thats going to put Kentucky back into the loss column. Auburn breezes.

Auburn             38
Kentucky          10

3:30 PM #4 Alabama at Mississippi St.: We told you when the season started this would be a special year for the Crimson Tide. The conferences remaining undefeated team heads into Starkville to take on the last winless team in the conference. Alabama still has to prove it can score without Prothro in a big game. Unfortunately this weeks game won't be a proper test. Alabama will win mainly because of its great defense as the search t replace their fallen gamebreaker continues.

Alabama          27
Mississippi St   7

7:15 PM Vanderbilt at #13 Florida: Vanderbilt has hung tough all season long as they now head into The Swamp to take on the Gators. This could very well be a let down game for Florida with Vandy getting a week off to prepare. But the Gators can't afford to lose anymore games if they want this to be a successful season. Look for the Gator defense to continue to play well and hold Vandy to a low enough score to get the win

Vanderbilt        13
Florida             24

Non-Conference Matchups
8:00 PM Appalachian St. at #6 LSU: LSU gets its 2nd scrimmage in 2 weeks as they take on Division 1-AA App. State. Unfortunately, with the hurricane, the schedule gives them this lull and in the end this could hurt the team as they go from this right into Tuscaloosa to face the unbeaten Tide.

Appalachian St 7
LSU                  48

Team Of The Week
Week 1 Wyoming +24 over Florida Win
Week 2
Arizona State -1 over LSU Loss
Week 3
Tennessee +6 over Florida Loss
Week 4
Tennessee +7 over LSU Win
Week 5
South Carolina +14 over Auburn Loss
Week 6 LSU -16 over Vanderbilt Win
Week 7
Florida +6 over LSU Win
Week 8 Bye Week
Week 9
Auburn -20 over Mississippi Win

We're hot winning 3 straight to go 5-3 on the year. This week I like Notre Dame -8 over what is turning out to be the most overrated team in the last 100 years. I don't see taking a struggling quarterback situation into South Bend as a very good way to start the day. Meanwhile Notre Dame continues to try to get a BCS bowl bid and I expect them to be fired up and cruise to an easy win over the demoralized Vols.
