Previous Week Overview: The Iron Bowl went to Streaking Auburn last week as Alabama suffered a major hangover from the previous weeks loss against LSU at home. The offense, which was already floundering, hit rock bottom as QB Croyle was sacked 11 times. Auburn cashed in on 3 short drives early for a 21-0 lead and cruised from there. Both teams finish the season 9-2 but Auburn is going to attract the better bowl as they are now one of the hottest teams in the country. As for Bama, the dream of a SEC championship is over and the future remains cloudy as long as lifetime loser Shula is at the reigns.

In other action, Georgia finally clinched the SEC East crown with a drubbing of annual whipping boy Kentucky. The game was never close as QB Shockley appears to be completely healthy hitting on 4 TD passes. Next stop for Georgia - Atlanta on December 3rd for all the marbles. Elsewhere, our favorite overrated team, Tennessee, continues to provide the laughs in another miserable performance this time getting beat by in state Vanderbilt. The Vols have sunk to an all time low and I expect they will continue to under perform as long as the current coaching staff remains in place.

This Weeks Action: (All times Eastern)

Game Of The Week
2:30 PM Arkansas at #4 LSU: Surprised? Well don't be as we are passing on other games you might think are better. LSU attempts to clinch the SEC West against an Arkansas team that is fast becoming very dangerous. LSU did what they pleased against Mississippi and their anemic offense. But also did Arkansas play in a similar fashion in dismantling Mississippi State racing out to a 41-3 halftime lead. Since the insertion of new QB Dick, the Razorback offense has been a force to be reckoned with. Look for LSU to win but it won't be easy.

Arkansas          24
LSU                  28

Conference Matchups
12:30 PM Tennessee at Kentucky: Unortunately, I have to report on this game. There isn't much to say here. Nobody cares unless you are related to any of the players. Tennessee will bring absolutely nothing to the table this week other than golf clubs to take up the rest of their weekend. Kentucky as expected has packed it in a long time ago. Look for this one to be a plodding, dull, low scoring affair.

Tennessee       20
Kentucky          14

2:30 PM Mississippi at Mississippi St.: The Egg Bowl! Always entertaining... alright, sometimes entertaining. This year not so much as both teams are treading the dirty water that is the SEC basement. Mississippi State is winless in conference and therefore has what appears to be the only incentive outside of the natural rivalry. Look for a spirited event that I see as close right down to the wire. Mississippi State gets its first conference win.

Mississippi       16
Mississippi St   17

Non-Conference Matchups
8:00 PM #14 Georgia at Georgia Tech: An intriguing matchup takes place this week in the peach state as newly crowned SEC East champs Georgia take on the high flying Wreck from Georgia Tech. The Jackets stunned the nation going into Miami and coming away with the win. The Tech defense played to its potential stopping Miami cold. Tech is an odd team with wins over Auburn and Miami on the road yet sport losses against NC State and Virginia. Look for this one to go a similar fashion as I predict the Jeckel team appears and Georgia comes away with the victory.

Georgia           31
Georgia Tech   21

3:30 PM #22 Florida State at #20 Florida: Two disappointing teams clash in the sunshine state this week in the annual end of season battle. This year the winners take will be an improved bowl as the loser gets stuck in some garbage pit like El Paso or something of a similar venue. Basically this IS the bowl game for both teams as this rivalry has been heated at times. Look for both defenses to show up strong as both team have basically the same make up. Neither offense has generated the points to be in the national picture this season. I look for a grinder as I see the home team getting the close win.

Florida State    17
Florida             20

Team Of The Week - Record (7-4)
Week 1 Wyoming +24 over Florida Win
Week 2
Arizona State -1 over LSU Loss
Week 3
Tennessee +6 over Florida Loss
Week 4
Tennessee +7 over LSU Win
Week 5
South Carolina +14 over Auburn Loss
Week 6 LSU -16 over Vanderbilt Win
Week 7
Florida +6 over LSU Win
Week 8 Bye Week
Week 9
Auburn -20 over Mississippi Win
Week 10 Notre Dame -8 over
Tennessee Win
Week 11 Vanderbilt 11½ over
Kentucky Loss
Week 12
Arkansas -13 over Mississippi State Win

Last week I breezed by with Arkansas to improve the record to a sterling 7-4 for the season. I enthusiastically challenge anyone who claims to have done better for the year in the tough SEC. In the final selection of the season I boldly and confidently take the Florida State Seminoles to handle the 6 points against a mediocre Florida team. Although I believe Florida will eek out the victory I certainly can see this game going either way as Florida has not dominated over a good team all season. So take the 6 points and watch this game go down to the last play.
